كفالة أبي طالب

Under the Care of Abu Talib

44 BH onwards (579 CE onwards)

Makkah مكة المكرمة

Childhood

Abu Talib took Muhammad ﷺ into his household and raised him alongside his own children. Despite being one of the less wealthy among the sons of Abdul Muttalib, Abu Talib loved Muhammad ﷺ dearly — even more than his own children — and never left him alone during his youth.

Why this matters

Abu Talib's guardianship would prove pivotal. He would protect the Prophet ﷺ throughout the entire Makkan period of his mission, shielding him from the wrath of the Quraysh through the power of tribal bonds and his personal authority as chief of Banu Hashim.
