Loss
Abdul Muttalib passed away when Muhammad ﷺ was approximately eight years old. Before his death, he entrusted the care of his grandson to his son Abu Talib, the full brother of Muhammad's ﷺ father Abdullah.
Why this matters
Another profound loss in the young Muhammad's ﷺ life. Yet each loss drew him closer to complete reliance upon Allah alone. Abu Talib would become his guardian, protector, and one of his greatest supporters — though he never accepted Islam.
